Fab Friday Swap

Hi stampers!  I'm STILL sharing convention creations :-)  More display samples are on the way as well as Artisan entries.  I just still have to edit the photos and that's 34 photos plus the few swaps I did...so I've been putting it off, lol!  And to answer some questions I've gotten about why I bother to edit.  Well, for one I just like the pictures better.  They look better and more professional when they are edited.  I also only post cards that I have added my watermark too because sometimes people "steal" photos :(

So anyway I'm going to share the swap I did for our Fab Friday meet up.  I really liked the way it turned out...even if my hubby didn't, lol!  I know he had seen it and at least given it the "nod" before convention.  But, when he was looking at my swaps the other night he looked at it (without realizing it was my own card) and said, NO!  I thought he was kidding so I said, "no?"  And he said NO and made a face!  Well I started laughing so hard I was crying and he figured out something was wrong...he said, "oh, did you make this one?"  and had a really funny look on his face!  He felt bad...I didn't care of course...I thought it was funny!

BUT, I hope the Fab Friday peeps liked them! :-)

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Chalk talk, chevron background
Paper:  Whisper white, coastal cabana, strawberry slush, in color DSP stack
Ink:  Coastal cabana, strawberry slush
Accessories:  Calk talk framelits, chevron embossing folder, doilies, rhinestones, white gel pen

I really can't thank my DT enough!  They are wonderful and amaze me with every single challenge!!!!!  All of the swaps I got back were awesome too!

Happy stamping!

Getting Dirty

Hi stampers!  I've been busy getting dirty today!  By playing with the Splitcoast Stampers Dare To Get Dirty Challenges!  If you're not a member of the site you should be AND you should join the Fan Club!  Then you can play in all kinds of fun challenges and stuff like me!  If ya wanna know specifics you're gonna have to go check it out ;-)

I've been super busy today starting with going out of town this morning to get a bridesmaid dress fitted and then some shopping!  At least is was a gorgeous day for a drive!  So, this post will be short!  But here are two of the cards I made tonight for the DTGD challenges!

I've been having fun with the July My Paper Pumpkin kit...the background there is from the kit! So fun!

Make sure to head over to SCS and check it out!  I had to renew my membership...oops :-)  Totally worth it though for an evening to stamping with my virtual (and real life) friends!

Fab Friday 23

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  I have to say I liked Friday much better in SLC :-)  But at least it's time for a new Fab Friday!  And holy cow!  The team got to meet each other at convention and 10 out of the 11 of us were there!  Amanda couldn't join us and we missed her! (BTW, I have some goodies for you...I'll get them in the mail soon, hehe.)  It was so fun to meet each one of the team members in person...or to see each other again!

So, here's our challenge for this week....a new sketch!

And here's my sample:

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Lovely labels, hello lovely, gorgeous grunge
Paper:  Very vanilla, crisp cantaloupe, soho subway
Ink:  Island indigo, crisp cantaloupe
Accessories:  Doilies, summer starfruit ribbon, artisan label punch, candy dots (neutral), in color dahlias, in color...thingies...what are those called???  Gah!

Ok, I'm seriously brain dead but I'm not getting off the couch...that's what happens after convention...I couldn't remember my pin number for my debit card at WalMart either for my favorite coffee I ran out of!  I better go take a nap!

Don't forget to play along!!

Happy stamping!

Quick swap

Hi stampers!  Ok, quick post today of a quick card.  I'm trying to show all my samples and swaps but I'm so slow at photo editing...I hate doing it basically, lol!  So I did one quick and now I gotta go to work.

I did make a few quick swaps the day I left for my mom's.  I hate mass production so I just made a handful of quick cards so I could have a few to trade with my friends.  I got a few extra free sets for convention since I already had the convention sets.  One of the ones I chose was tape it and it's so cool!  I can't wait to play more!  I also pulled out my neglected old olive and I love this color combo, just look!

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Yippie skippie, tape it
Paper:  Whisper white, old olive, coastal cabana
Ink:  Old olive, coastal cabana, strawberry slush
Accessories:  Wide oval punch, modern label punch, basic rhinestones

ACK!  Isn't it so cute!  I think this was the first card to be swapped and is my favorite of the ones I made!  It makes such QUICK and cute cards!  I love the washi tape look and you can have "washi tape" of any color with this set!

Ok, off to work!  Happy stamping!

Display Stamples

Hi stampers! No, that's not a typo...for some reason I have a problem saying display samples and it comes out 99.9% of the time "display stamples", lol!  Just ask my roomie, Marla!  She'll tell you I said it no less than 1000 times!  But you know what, it's not wrong...I mean after all they are samples that are stamped so stamples it is!!!!  My mom always laughed that she had her own language at work and people looked at her like she was crazy but eventually adopted her words, lol!  Maybe stamples will catch on and I guess I come by it honest ;-)

So, how would you like to see some more of my display stamples????  Here are a couple.  I'm going to try to post more than one at a time like I said but I'm STILL not caught up on sleep so I only got two edited before I wanted to fall asleep sitting up, lol!  I'm also not going to list supplies...SO, if you have questions please feel free to email or comment and I'll get back to you.  I THINK all 24 of them were on display (is it sad I had a hard time remembering what my OWN cards looked like, lol)!

So here's a quick and easy one with gorgeous grunge!  I really did try to do some easy and simple designs since they were for inspiration for stampers of all experience.  I kept thinking things were too simple but I hope you all like them!
The colors I used were coastal cabana, Bermuda bay, midnight muse, and smokey slate FYI because I do know I'll get asked that :-)

And another pretty simple one!  I think it looks like ice cream sherbet colors a little!

Happy stamping!

Miss Mary Mack

Hi stampers!  Remember that little clapping game?  Well I guess I'm no longer Mindy Backes....but Mindy Mackes....

What is super awesome is that my friend and running buddy Wendy stamped me a little B and we fixed one of the two boards :-)  There are no mistakes in stamping, right??? :-)  Thanks Wendy!!!!

As if I needed a new nickname....but hey, it makes for a funny story and leave it to stampers to fix a mistake, right????  And with me it seems things can never go right...there is always something...but more on that later maybe...... ;-)  What was funny is that you can see that they were in what should have been alphabetical order so at least I'm pretty sure it was just a typo and they really don't think I'm Mindy Mack!!!!

So, I'm going to start sharing some of my display samples today.  I have 24 so I'm going to do mulitples sometime or it will take for-ev-er to do that AND my artisan stuff!  And as Sweet Brown would say, "ain't nobody got time for that!" :-)

But since I didn't get a lot of photo editing done on the plane (which was the plan and why I bought the wifi it didn't work out BUT having wifi in flight was totally awesome and helped the time go way fast and keep me "calm" lol) I only have one to share today.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Hello lovely
Paper:  Whisper white, coastal cabana
Ink:  Smokey slate, calypso coral, coastal cabana
Accessories:  Basic rhinestones

And hey!  It's pretty mailable for mailable Monday!  I had to make sure to remember to do SOME of my stamples (lol) simple.  It was kind of hard to switch from over the top artisan mode.  Anyway I hope you enjoy!  Off to work and the real world I go!  Boo!

Happy stamping!

I don't always swap....

...but when I do...it's always organized!  LOL!  Hi stampers!  Can you tell I'm loopy and sleep deprived???  Haha!  I'm sitting at the airport with my roomie Marla waiting to fly home (insert SUPER sad face here) so I thought I'd share some stuff from convention since I was totally overwhelmed (again) and got nothing blogged, haha!  I did try to update via twitter and Facebook.  I'll try to share a lot in the coming weeks because I have a LOT to share!!!

Anyway I'm not a big swapper...I don't need many since I don't do a lot of business and it kind of stresses me out to have to make them, get them there in good shape, lug them around (anyone else feel like a sherpa all week???) and then it's kind of chaotic actually swapping.  Not being a fan of large crowds, this one was really freaking me out :-)  BUT, I always at least do my friend Lyssa's swap which has a lot of my friends in it which is fun and they are always amazing!  So, here is what I came up with:

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Yippie-skippie, daydream medallion (extra rubber)
Paper:  Whisper white, bermuda bay, crisp cantaloupe, 2013-2015 core'dinations CS, brushed gold
Ink:  Bermuda bay, crisp cantaloupe, strawberry slush
Accessories:  Honeycomb embossing folder, chalk talk framelits, basic rhinestones, basic pearls, doilies, strawberry slush ruffled stretch trim, bitty butterfly punch, sanding block

I really loved how this card turned out and I hope everyone in the swap did too!  I got some really fabulous stuff back!  And speaking of FABULOUS....here's a cute little picture of a few of the Fab Friday members!  We had a meet and greet and a swap planned but just happened to run into each other the at Lydia's happy hour.  So, I'll share all that with you later :-)  But for now...enjoy the fabulousness because each and every one of these stampers ARE FAB-U-LOUS!

And sorry instagram cut some people off :-)

Happy stamping!

Live from Salt Lake

Hi stampers, I don't have a card to share today but I just wanted to say HI from Salt Lake!  I got in yesterday evening and went to Lydia's happy hour which was tons of fun!  A good chunk of the Fab Friday team was there and it was so fun to see/meet them!  Check it out!

Sorry Cindy got cut off a little...Instagram is annoying sometimes!  There is a lot planned from here on out but I'll try to post when/if I can and I'll try to update Twitter!  You can follow me at BadaBingStamps.  If you're here make sure to say hey and if not I'll try to keep you posted!  Time to go head out now that we've done our early morning run!!!!  I don't think I'd hate running so much if I lived here!  It's so pretty...and DRY, lol!

Happy stamping!

HSS 164

Hi stampers!  I'm off to my mom's house for a quick visit before they take me to the airport on Wednesday.  I can't wait to get to SLC and see all my friends...and leave this muggy humidity behind!

And since it's Tuesday that means it's time for a new challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments!  Love this cool sketch!

And here's my card....I changed up the shape a bit and put my own spin on it because...well just because I felt like being different :-)

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Mosaic madness, a dozen thoughts
Paper:  Whisper white, so safron, coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe
Ink:  So safron, coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe
Accessories:  Mosaic punch, crisp cantaloupe ruffled stretch trim, mosaic embossing folder

It's pretty simple but I didn't want to make it too busy with all the geometric shapes.  I also kept it mailable.  Now head on over to the HSS site and check everyone else's projects out and play along!

Happy stamping!

Mailable Monday - Marine Life

Hi stampers!  I'm in full on freak out mode...leaving for convention (by way of my mom's house) tomorrow so I have a jillion things to get done and I totally didn't do any of them yesterday, ha!

So, quick post today!  Today's mailable card uses the new square framelits to create a polaroid.  I also finally got by the tide since it made the big catalog.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  By the tide, gorgeous grunge, lots of thanks
Paper:  Very vanilla, baked brown sugar, 2013-2015 in color core'dinations
Ink:  Baked brown sugar, coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe
Accessories:  Square framelits, sanding block, corner rounder punch

I used the core'dinations CS all on it's own and not embossed here which is just as fun as embossing it.  I did stamp on it and then I distressed it with the sanding tool.

Ok, time to get to work!

Happy stamping!

Fab Friday 22

Hi stampers!  Yay, it's Friday!!!!  I'm in full convention-prepping mode and this weekend will be no exception!  It will be last minute swaps and preparations!!!!  I'm SO excited to see all my stampy peeps!!!!  It's always so much fun to see old friends and make new ones!  Anyway, in all the craziness I almost forgot to make the card for today's Fab Friday Challenge, oops!  Luckily one of my team mates emailed me theirs last night which reminded me, hehe!  I may appear to be organized (and I really DO try to be) but I'm so not sometimes, lol!

So, we have a bright and fun color challenge this week!

To me, this screamed all things summer like the 4th of July (I know...we were just a few days too late) and picnics!  So, I came up with this little ditty which I think looks very summery!  The gingham one reminds me of a picnic blanket!  I should take a blanket and eat my lunch outside at work today (if my co-workers don't twist my arm to go out...I need to save money...I need to save money....) since it's supposed to be super nice out and NOT a million degrees and sticky like earlier this week!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Six sided sampler
Paper:  Whisper white, basic gray, real red
Ink:  Basic gray, real red, tempting turquoise
Accessories:  Hexagon punch, hexagon embossing folder, basic rhinestones

I broke out the new hexagon set which I just got and I think it is just too cute!

Now, make sure to check out all the amazing DT creations!  I really love how everyone put their own spin on it and really took things in different directions!  And then play along and wow us!  We can't wait to see what you made.  And again, if you are a demo and see any of us at convention make sure to say hi and that you play at Fab Friday!  We'd love to meet you!  Although, I have to say I hate big crowds and this one is double what I'm use to so if you see me huddled in a corner it may be best to say hey from a few feet away, lol!!!!!  Wish me luck with THAT!!!!!

Happy stamping!

Christmas in July

Hi stampers!  I finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday and I totally should have done it earlier.  After only a few hours with some meds and a nap I was feeling MUCH better!  Yay!

Today's card is a Christmas in July theme since my holiday catalog order got here last week.  This card was inspired by one of the Artisan swaps I got at convention last year (from Mary Haugen).  I thought I'd look though them the other day when I didn't get picked, lol!  I do have to say I am glad I don't have to stress over that swap again this year:-)  Silver linings, right?
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Christmas messages, woodgrain (background)
Paper:  Crumb cake, gumball green, season of style DSP
Ink:  Crumb cake, cherry cobbler
Accessories:  2.5" circle punch, regals buttons, cherry cobbler baker's twine

This card showcases one of my most FAVE sets ever!  I love the new Christmas greetings set.  It has really fun sayings and fonts.  I really like the trend of mixing fonts.  This stamp is probably my most favorite image in the set.  The season of style DSP is really pretty too.  Now, the only thing I forgot to do was pierce the main panel all the way around.  Mary did that on her card and it was just that little extra something to make it special.  So, my card is un-special :-)  I'm going to have to try again with this layout!!!!  And while the card base is gumball I used a garden green button but I think it works since I didn't have a gumball embellishment I wanted to use.  Not everything has to match, it just has to "go". :-)

I'm going to try to post more this week but I've also got to work on swaps.... :-)

Happy stamping!

Mailable Monday - My Favorite Things Edition

Hi stampers!  Happy Monday....if you can call a Monday happy....although I'm sure I can next week since my Monday will also be my Friday since I leave for my mom's on Tuesday on my way to convention!  Anyway, sorry I was MIA over the weekend, it was my bestie's shower and bachelorette party weekend so I was busy and then yesterday I was busy recovering :-)  No, I didn't have too much to drink but I'm far too old to stay up until 3 am dancing and being silly (even though it was tons of fun)....especially with a summer cold, ugh!  I was worried about feeling icky during the parties but at least I felt ok for those!

Anyway, I have a TON of new stuff from both the new catalog and the the Holiday Seasonal catalog so I better get busy, right?  I did manage to make another card with the truly grateful set and I kind of LOVE it!  I also added two of my most favorite new items so like Oprah, today's post is a "my favorite things" edition (although you don't all get new cars like on her show, lol....sorry).

So we have these new dies called thinlits that cut out fun words.  Now, my first go round did not go well.  The paper was firmly stuck in the die and I ripped it all apart to get it out but after some research online I found that the trick is to put some wax paper between the paper and the die.  It popped right out that time.  You should note, there are some little holes in the die that you use to poke out the openings in the letters and then smaller holes that you use to poke out the actual words.  I'll try to make a video of this and how to attach it if I can get my camera problems figured out.  And FYI, I used my two way glue pen to carefully attach it.

Stampin' supplies:
Stamps:  Truly grateful
Paper:  Very vanilla, tangerine tango, soft sky
Ink:  Chocolate chip, crushed curry, soft sky, tangerine tango
Accessories:  Thinlit dies, candy dots (subtles, brights, neutrals), color spritzer (retired)

My other favorite thing is the candy dots!  I LOVE them because they are easy and fun and they are really flat so you can totally pimp your card and STILL easily mail it!!!!  Now, I did cheat and use the retired color spritzer. I try to use mostly current stuff but I just can NOT seem to make good splatters in other ways so I'm gonna keep using it.  I did get a little heavy handed with it but it happens sometimes.... :-)

So, there you go...two of my favorite things!

Happy stamping!

Mailable....Friday?

Hi stampers.  Feels like Monday since having yesterday off for the 4th.  It has not been a great week around here and yesterday was no exception and I'm sick so it really does feel like a Monday and the fact that I never in my 30+ years remember a 4th of July where people shot off fireworks to the extent they did last night.  Geez!  Some of us need to sleep because we have to work!!!!  Ok, I'll quit whining now :-)  I hope you either got a good night's sleep of better yet you have today off!  Oh and you aren't sick!  I'd like to call in but there really isn't anyone to cover for me so hopefully I'll feel better once I'm up and around...

So how about some happy stuff since I'm all doom and gloom today? LOL!  I got a big box of stuff the other day from the Holiday mini or seasonal catalog.  I went a teeny tiny little bit nuts I think!  I'm afraid to count the number of stamp sets I got...eep!  Do you ever open the box and say whoa?  Did I order all that????  LOL!

So, I always have a hard time deciding what to dig into first but this time it was pretty easy as I didn't get any Halloween stuff and logically Thanksgiving would be the next holiday and I LOVE the turkey day sets this year!  I'm still struggling with my mojo so I wanted clean and simple...or at least simple and this set lends itself so well to that!  It's based loosely on the sample in the catalog.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Truly grateful
Paper:  Confetti white, very vanilla, soft sky, sweater weather DSP
Ink:  Sahara sand, chocolate chip, soft sky, crushed curry, tangerine tango
Accessories:  Triple heart punch, natural trim, aquapainter (for splatters)

Who would have thought those colors would look so yummy together?  And I can't wait to show you something soon that I did with something that coordinates with this stuff...it didn't make it on this first card simply because I forgot about even getting it (because I actually put IT away where it belongs....which I did NOT do with the rest of the stuff from the box currently sprawled out all over my floor, lol).

I hope to be back soon with some Christmas in July :-)

Happy stamping!

HSS 163

Hi stampers!  It's Tuesday and July already!  Where is the summer going?  Speaking of summer...we have a very summery color challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week!

And you can try your hand at some of the new in colors!

Here's what I did:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  A dozen thoughts, everything Eleanor
Paper:  Whisper white, pistachio pudding
Ink:  Daffodil delight, pistachio pudding, crisp cantaloupe, strawberry slush
Accessories: Deco labels collection framelits, pistachio pudding ruffled stretch trim, bitty butterfly punch

Since the colors were bright I kept it simple.  And that butterfly was punched from some leftover CS I had crimped for display stamping...how's that for a tease? :-)  But it worked perfect since it was sitting there.

Now go see what everyone else on the design team came up with and don't forget to play along!  We'd love to have you!

Happy stamping!

Mailable Monday - Secret Santa

Hi stampers...ok, I have a secret Santa of sorts.....someone from SU must have read my recent post about me being a space cadet and losing my mini and catalog on the plane on the way home from vacation because when I came home for lunch on Wednesday there was a big package sticking out of the mailbox....

Hmmmm I thought....what did I order?  Then I remembered I ordered a couple of CUTE maxi dresses from a cute online boutique (I hope they fit) but they were coming UPS and not through the mail...hmmm ok, what else?  I couldn't recall ordering any stamp stuff...but I won't tell you how many times I've ordered and forgot, lol!  So, when I got it out of the mailbox I saw it WAS from SU and not an order but directly from SU.  Then I got a little nervous because I thought hmmmm...maybe this is how they are notifying the Artisan finalists, eek!  I doubted it but I couldn't imagine what it could be.  So once I finally opened it (of course I couldn't get it open and couldn't find any tools to help, lol) I found the SWEETEST thing inside.

Someone from the home office must have seen my post about what a goof I was on vacation where I lost a bunch of stuff including my coveted mini catalog (or seasonal catalog...I need to figure out what exactly we are calling it now, lol) and they sent me a new one PLUS a new regular catalog, Spanish catalog, and the magazine that came with the mini!  THIS, right here is why I LOVE Stampin' Up!  So, to my "Secret Santa" THANK YOU!  The past month or so has been pretty rough for a number of reasons so it was so nice to get a little pick me up!  This card is for YOU!

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Lots of thanks, really good greetings, sweet essentials (I think I used a retired one too but can't remember now and I'm not in my craft room....)
Paper:  Whisper white, coastal cabana
Ink:  Coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe, strawberry slush
Accessories:  None :-)

I saw a card like this with a different theme on Pinterest and thought I'd like to make my own.  You could make this for any occasion...or you can if you're a hoarder of greetings like I am....).

And again, thanks to whoever sent me the catalogs!

Happy stamping!
